Do we need 3/16 or 1/4 inch packing? For the drive shaft packing nut...

My boat took quarter, but that dont mean what mine took is right for you. Better wait on Ron to chime in before you buy.

Since then I went to a dripless seal and love it by the way.......

What’s the easiest way to get the packing nut off of the shaft?

Unbolt coupling from trans, slide back, remove shaft coupling, remove shaft stuffing box (nut) repair, re-install, re-install coupling, aligne engine to shaft, bolt coupling halves back together.
Why do you need to remove the nut??
